The Professional Game Match Officials Limited has reportedly contacted Nottingham Forest to admit that Manchester United’s second goal on Sunday should have been disallowed.
Handball spotted in five-goal Old Trafford clash
In the high-scoring game at Old Trafford, Matheus Cunha scored after Bryan Mbeumo’s shot was blocked. Replays showed the ball appeared to hit Cunha’s arm in the box before he finished.
VAR told referee Michael Salisbury the goal should be ruled out, but after reviewing it on the pitch he decided to let it stand.
Nottingham Forest were furious with the call, arguing it had a direct impact on the final result.

PGMOL is understood to have reviewed the footage and accepted that the goal should not have been allowed to stand.
Forest officials were frustrated both during the match and afterward. They believed there was a clear handball in the build-up that should have resulted in the goal being disallowed.
Manchester United held on for the win, but the incident has dominated discussion since full-time. Supporters and pundits have questioned how the decision was missed given that VAR was in use.
