The 2025 National League Cy Young runner-up is picking up right where he left off. Sanchez is tied with Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski for the MLB lead with 80 strikeouts, and his 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings mark a new career high.
Last season, Sanchez posted a 2.50 ERA and set a career best with 212 strikeouts over 202 innings. He allowed 44 walks and 171 hits across that span.
Philadelphia rewarded him for the breakout year with a six-year, $107 million extension in the offseason. The Phillies are also turning things around after a slow start. They’re now 23-23 and sit second in the NL East behind the league-leading Atlanta Braves at 31-16.
