Phil Foden Agrees Four-Year Contract Extension With Manchester City
| Foden reaches agreement in principle on new City Contract amid reduced role |
The England midfielder has won six Premier League titles since breaking into City’s first team at 17.
Despite limited starts under Pep Guardiola this season, City are backing Foden for the long term...
Phil Foden is set to remain at Manchester City after reportedly agreeing to a new four-year contract with the club where he came through the academy.
Since making his senior debut at 17, Foden has collected six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, two FA Cups, and five EFL Cups with City.
Even with his trophy haul, the England midfielder has fallen down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order this season, with the manager leaning more on Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo to strengthen the attack.
Foden hasn’t started a Premier League match since City’s 2-2 home draw with Nottingham Forest on March 4. Minutes have been hard to come by as City’s title push faltered further after Monday’s 3-3 draw with Everton.

Still, Sky Sports and the BBC report that Foden has reached an agreement in principle on a new four-year deal, a significant move for the 25-year-old who had been linked with a potential exit this summer.
The Guardian says Foden’s contract includes a one-year extension option, a sign of the confidence Guardiola and City’s leadership have in him.
Reports also state that Foden brought in Erling Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, to handle negotiations, with the deal set to run through at least June 2030.
