Jalen Brunson dropped 35 points to power the New York Knicks to a 137-98 rout of the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, giving New York a 1-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semi-final series.

Brunson set the tone for a relentless Knicks offense that poured in 74 points by halftime, keeping control throughout against a Philadelphia team that had just eliminated the second-seeded Celtics in round one.

OG Anunoby chipped in 18 points alongside Brunson, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges each finished with 17 in front of a packed Madison Square Garden crowd.

The result gave New York the ideal start in the best-of-seven series as the club aims for its first NBA Finals appearance since 1999.

Brunson dictated the pace from the opening quarter, scoring 14 points to push the Knicks out to a 33-25 lead.

He kept it going in the second, helping New York pile up 41 points and a 74-51 halftime advantage, punctuated by a 25-foot three-pointer to close the half.

New York never let the lead slip, extending it to as much as 40 points in the fourth before coasting to the finish.

Philadelphia’s trio of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George struggled against New York’s defense, combining to shoot 12-of-31 from the field.

The Knicks will look to push the series lead to 2-0 when they host Game 2 in New York on Wednesday.
