Porto clinched their 31st league championship on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Alverca at Estádio do Dragao.
Jan Bednarek’s 40th-minute strike made the difference, taking Porto to 85 points. With only two games left, that total put them out of reach of Benfica on 76 and Sporting CP on 73.
Danish midfielder Victor Froholdt, who joined from FC Copenhagen before the season and played a key role all year, said he was overjoyed to win the title in his first campaign at the club.
“We worked very hard for these moments. We played many games, and it was very well deserved. We worked as hard as we could, every day. I’m very proud of the whole team and staff. We’re going to celebrate this for the city, for all the phenomenal fans. It’s great to give back to them.”

Froholdt also took time to praise the fans. “We would never be here without the fans. They were with us when we won and when we suffered. It’s great to win and give this to the people after a few years without trophies. I hope everyone can celebrate.”
Froholdt also praised the tactical mind of coach Francesco Farioli. “The coach kept us united all season. He was great tactically. It’s very well deserved on his part. Last year, he couldn’t do it with Ajax; now he has. He can be very proud of himself.”
