James Bogere, who came on for Gift Links, scored in stoppage time to give AGF a 2-1 win over Sonderjyske on Sunday evening and put them back on top of the Danish Superliga.

AGF piled the pressure on title rivals FC Midtjylland with the home win over Sonderjyske. The 18-year-old Bogere became the match hero, sparking celebrations in Vejlby with his first goal for the club in injury time.

Olti Hyseni equalized for the visitors ten minutes before the end, canceling out Tobias Bech’s second-half opener and leaving AGF fans on edge.

The win puts AGF three points clear of FC Midtjylland. Midtjylland host Viborg FF on Monday night and can reclaim top spot with a victory thanks to their superior goal difference over Aarhus.

The game in Vejlby summed up AGF’s spring form. They controlled possession and territory throughout but found it hard to turn that dominance into goals. Norwegian midfielder Kristian Arnstad showed that early, missing an open chance with a weak shot at Sonderjyske keeper Nicolai Flo in the 6th minute.

Gift Links tried to inject energy with his quick, direct runs, but he was the only AGF player consistently threatening the Sonderjyske goal.

AGF coach Jakob Poulsen responded by bringing Frederik Emmery on at half-time, and the change paid off almost immediately.

Emmery won a duel with Matthew Hoppe down AGF’s left and whipped in a precise cross. Tobias Bech rose above the defense to head it powerfully past Nicolai Flo.

AGF looked set to make it 2-0, but Sonderjyske struck against the run of play with nine minutes left. Anders Bergholt cut the ball across for Olti Hyseni, who finished for his fifth goal of the season, four of them coming this spring.

The match seemed destined for a draw until Bogere’s shot from the edge of the box deflected off Maxime Soulas and looped into the net.

Gift Links buzzed around the pitch trying to spark AGF, but his lively touches made him the only real attacking threat for the hosts.

Seeing the lack of support, AGF coach Jakob Poulsen brought Frederik Emmery on at the start of the second half, and the substitution paid off right away.

Emmery battled with Matthew Hoppe on the left and delivered a perfect cross into the box, where Tobias Bech met it with a powerful header past Flo.

AGF looked likely to make it 2-0, but Sonderjyske snatched an equalizer against the run of play with nine minutes left.

Anders Bergholt sent the ball across the area to Olti Hyseni, who finished for his fifth goal of the season, four of those coming after winter.

It seemed the game would end level until Bogere’s shot from outside the box deflected off Maxime Soulas and trickled in.
