Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy had surgery on Monday to address a recurring injury in his right thigh, according to a medical source.
The procedure took place in Lyon and was successful, the source said. Mendy is expected to be sidelined for three to four months.
There were earlier concerns that the 30-year-old France international could face up to a year out with the serious issue, which flared up again during a LaLiga game on May 3.
This marks Mendy’s fifth separate injury of the season for the former Le Havre and Lyon defender, who developed in PSG’s academy between 2004 and 2012.
He made 10 appearances for the France national team from 2018 to 2024.
