EPL: Brighton Thrash Relegated Wolves to Close on Europe
| Seagulls thrash relegated Wolves at the Amex. |
Wolves’ away woes continued as Brighton ran out 3-0 winners, leaving the already-relegated side still without a league win on the road this season.
Early goals from Hinshelwood and Dunk, plus a late Minteh strike, gave Brighton a 3-0 win over Wolves and moved them to seventh in the Premier League...
Brighton & Hove Albion climbed to seventh in the Premier League with a dominant 3-0 win over relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Amex Stadium.
The hosts struck immediately, with Jack Hinshelwood opening the scoring after just 36 seconds. He headed in Maxim De Cuyper’s cross from the left for his fourth league goal of the campaign.
Wolves’ struggles deepened soon after when sloppy defending let Lewis Dunk head home from close range, connecting with De Cuyper’s in-swinging corner.
Brighton showed no mercy to their already-relegated visitors and nearly made it 3-0 before the 15th minute, when Kaoru Mitoma fired into the side netting from a dangerous position.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side kept pressing as the half went on, and Wolves had Daniel Bentley to thank for a sharp save that stopped Danny Welbeck from getting on the scoresheet.
The halftime whistle was a relief for Rob Edwards. Although Brighton didn’t add another before the break, Wolves didn’t manage a single shot in the first 45 minutes.
Wolves looked sharper at the start of the second half and nearly pulled one back in the 53rd minute. Yerson Mosquera’s close-range header from Mateus Mane’s cross cannoned off the bar.

Brighton suffered a setback just before the hour mark when Kaoru Mitoma went off with what looked like a hamstring problem.
With the game fading out, the Seagulls sealed the win in the 86th minute. Yankuba Minteh pounced on a poor clearance from the Wolves defence and blasted it home to make it 3-0.
Brighton have now won three Premier League home games in a row and travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United next weekend.
Wolves stay bottom of the table and are still without an away league win this season, having not taken three points on the road away from Molineux.
