De Zerbi celebrates Tottenham's win

The Spurs boss also said he would like to keep Joao Palhinha permanently after the midfielder’s strong start on loan from Bayern Munich.

Leeds, six points clear of Spurs, are close to securing Premier League safety in their first season back in the top flight...

Spurs sit 17th on 37 points with three games remaining as they fight to avoid relegation under De Zerbi, who has secured consecutive victories since taking over.

Leeds are six points and three spots above Tottenham and look set to stay up following last season’s promotion, continuing their unexpected Premier League run.

Consecutive road wins at Wolves and Aston Villa have lifted Tottenham out of the bottom three for the first time in months, but De Zerbi’s side need to maintain that form to guarantee survival.

De Zerbi Open to Making Palhinha Stay Permanent

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi also addressed Joao Palhinha’s future after the midfielder arrived on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich last summer, with Spurs holding a purchase option.

The 30-year-old has thrived under De Zerbi’s early tenure and even netted the winner against Wolves. Asked whether he wants to keep Palhinha beyond this season, De Zerbi gave a candid response.

“100%. We have to start from this type of people. More than players, we need reliable people and players and Palhinha is one of the best, as a player for sure but as a guy.

“I want to see players have the same personality, attitude and spirit, and we're lucky to have him.”

Injury Blow for Spurs as Trio Miss Leeds Clash

De Zerbi opened his pre-match press conference with a lengthy injury update for a Tottenham squad dealing with multiple absences, starting with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The manager confirmed Vicario, along with James Maddison and Dominic Solanke, will not be fit in time to face Leeds United.

“No Vicario is not ready yet. I don't know what will be the plan. He's suffering because he would like to help the team and his teammates. But he's not available yet.

“I am thinking about James Maddison because I am watching a top, top player. Maybe he is not ready yet to play not as a physical condition, but for the rhythm or intensity of the game, you are playing in Premier League, most difficult league in the world for rhythm and intensity.

“About Solanke, he is improving very quickly. I don’t know if for this game.”
