Top Seed Zverev Eases Past Injured Diallo at Munich Open
World No. 3 Alexander Zverev beat Gabriel Diallo 6-1, 6-2 to reach the Munich Open quarter-finals and notch his 100th clay win this decade. The German top seed next plays Francisco Cerundolo and is the last home player left after Daniel Altmaier lost to Alex Molcan.
Bayern supporter Zverev happy to secure a clearer win than his club after beating Diallo at Munich Open...
Top seed Alexander Zverev stayed on course to retain his Munich ATP title after brushing aside Canada’s Gabriel Diallo on Thursday.
The world No. 3 wrapped up a 6-1, 6-2 win in 73 minutes and now meets Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the quarters.
“I won and I won decisively, that's pretty good,” Zverev said as he kept his bid for a record fourth Munich title alive.
The Bayern Munich fan, who was in attendance at Wednesday's dramatic Champions League quarter-final win over Real Madrid, added: “It wasn't as exciting as yesterday in the Allianz Arena - that was an experience.”

Zverev said his meeting with fifth seed Cerundolo, who eased past Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-0 earlier, "will be a more exciting match.“
The 28-year-old had been pushed to three sets by Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic in his opener but faced no such problems against world No. 37 Diallo in the Munich sunshine.
Diallo appeared hampered by a back issue and required on-court treatment after the opening set.

The win marked Zverev’s 100th clay-court victory this decade, a total only bettered by world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and Dane Casper Ruud in that span.
Zverev is now the last German left in the draw after countryman Daniel Altmaier fell 6-4, 7-6 (10) to Slovak qualifier Alex Molcan earlier on Thursday.
