AGF squander chance to retake Superliga lead in 0-0 draw with FC Midtjylland. Hansen shines, Cho misfires, Bravo clears off line.

AGF and FC Midtjylland play out goalless draw as Danish Superliga title race stays level...

AGF and Midtjylland shared the spoils in a goalless draw on Sunday, leaving both sides level on points with three rounds left in the Danish Superliga. FC Midtjylland, however, hold the edge on goal difference.

AGF pushed for all 90 minutes in search of a win that would have sent them back to the top of the table, after surrendering a seven-point lead in recent weeks.

But FC Midtjylland defended resolutely and did everything to protect their place at the top of the Danish Superliga. The visitors carved out the best chances of the first half, yet South Korean striker Cho Gue-sung endured a night to forget.

At the other end, AGF also threatened, but Jakob Andersen was among those who failed to convert. Ten minutes before half-time, Jesper Hansen pulled off a fine save to deny Cho Gue-sung again from the edge of the box.

The second half followed the same pattern as Cho Gue-sung was again denied by AGF keeper Jesper Hansen after a superb lay-off from Aral Simsir.

AGF coach Jakob Poulsen introduced striker Patrick Mortensen for Janni Serra at the break, but he also failed to break the deadlock in front of 11,335 spectators - a record crowd at the temporary Vejlby Stadium.

With the ball bouncing on the goal line in front of AGF’s Patrick Mortensen and Tobias Bech, FC Midtjylland midfielder Pedro Bravo raced back to hook it clear over the bar.

It finished goalless in Aarhus, leaving FC Midtjylland a small step closer to the Danish championship.
