The 26-year-old Kazakh, champion in Stuttgart in 2024 but absent last year, leaned on her serve to beat the unseeded Russian 6-2, 6-4 in 1 hour 12 minutes.
The world No. 19 Shnaider played better in the second set, but double faults at key moments handed Rybakina the advantage.

Rybakina sealed the win with her ninth ace and will meet either Leylah Fernandez or Zeynep Sonmez in the last eight.
Earlier, world No. 9 Mirra Andreeva beat American Alycia Parks in straight sets in their last-16 match, stretching her winning streak to six.
The sixth seed is in strong form after winning the Linz clay event last week. She knocked out defending champion Jelena Ostapenko on Wednesday before easing past Parks 7-6(3), 6-3.
She now faces two-time Stuttgart champion Iga Swiatek, who earned her first clay win of the season on Wednesday with a dominant performance against Laura Siegemund.
“Obviously, she's a great player, but I'll just approach this match as every other match that I've had before,” the 18-year-old Andreeva said of her quarter-final opponent.
There's no stopping her now 😤
