Diego Carlos sent an early warning shot that narrowly missed the target, just before Maximo Perrone fired an effort straight into the arms of Maduka Okoye.

The visitors responded to their encouraging start, with Arthur Atta unleashing a fierce 11th-minute shot that was expertly pushed away by Jean Butez. Controversy erupted at the Bluenergy Stadium nine minutes later when Atta went down in the area, but despite vigorous appeals, referee Fabio Maresca wasn't convinced, waving away the pleas for a penalty. 

A low-key period followed, but things picked up towards the interval. Nico Paz had Okoye beaten with a long-range shot, but the Udinese keeper held firm. Meanwhile, Butez made a crucial block to deny Hassane Kamara at the other end. 

The second half started off quietly, much like the first. The only real highlight was Christian Kabasele's 57th-minute effort, which was comfortably saved by Butez.

As the game remained goalless, coaches Kosta Runjaic and Cesc Fabregas turned to their substitutes for a spark. It was nearly one of those changes that made the difference, with Como's Sergi Roberto narrowly heading over the crossbar. 

Udinese's substitute Idrissa Gueye had a late chance, firing a powerful shot that tested Butez's reflexes. It was the game's final moment of note, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

The result keeps Como top of the table, four points clear of Juventus in the Champions League race (having played an extra game). Udinese, meanwhile, are two points off the top half, having picked up two wins and two draws from their last five matches.
