Parma Celebrate as Elphege Sinks Pisa, Who Miss Open Goal in Relegation Blow

Parma Vs Pisa
Parma sink Pisa in tense Tardini C
clash

Nesta Elphege’s goal gives Parma victory over Pisa. If Lecce beat Verona, Pisa will be mathematically relegated to Serie B after four straight defeats.

Ducali now 11 points clear of drop zone with Serie A safety all but sealed...

Substitute Nesta Elphege sparked Parma’s celebrations and condemned Pisa to Serie B, though the visitors struck the woodwork twice.

Parma were poised to secure Serie A survival after a shock win at Udinese left them 11 points clear of the relegation zone. Mateo Pellegrino returned after a head injury, with only Matija Frigan and Benja Cremaschi unavailable. Pisa arrived on the brink of Serie B following four straight losses, missing Matteo Tramoni, Rafiu Durosinmi, Marius Marin and Daniel Denoon, while Mehdi Leris recovered from an ankle sprain to feature.

Zion Suzuki produced a brave reaction save in the sixth minute, throwing his face in front of Isak Vural’s volley from six yards out.

Moments later, Mandela Keita pounced on a loose ball in midfield to dispossess Ebeneezer Akinsanmiro and force Adrian Semper into a low one-handed stop.

Hans Nicolussi Caviglia curled narrowly wide before Akinsanmiro latched onto Vural’s lay-off and crashed a close-range effort against the foot of the near post.

Emanuele Valeri’s low ball flashed across goal, but neither Pellegrino nor Enrico Delprato could convert. Pisa nearly punished Parma on the break from their own free kick, with Filip Stojilkovic hitting the post of an empty net after rounding Suzuki.

Vural was forced off with a knee injury, before Samuele Angori made a vital block to deny Nicolussi Caviglia after a clever lay-off from Pellegrino.

The pace slowed under the afternoon heat. Henrik Meister’s tame angled effort failed to test Suzuki, but Stefano Moreo came closer with a towering header from Angori’s cross that grazed the bar.

Super-sub Nesta Elphege continued his scoring streak with an instant impact off the bench for Parma. Collecting Oliver Sorensen’s bouncing header with his back to goal seven yards out, he spun and fired home.

Moments later, Elphege slid a clever pass to release Emanuele Valeri down the left, whose effort drew a sharp save from Semper, before Pellegrino headed straight at the goalkeeper.

A Lecce win over Verona this evening would confirm Pisa’s relegation mathematically.
