Jaguars snatch last-second win - literally.

More than 61,000 fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London witnessed a dramatic finale when the Philadelphia Eagles edged ahead by one point through a 48-yard Jake Elliott field goal with just eight seconds remaining.

The Eagles appeared to have sealed the game when Elliott then placed the ensuing kick-off on the eight-yard line, forcing Jacksonville running back Ameer Abdullah to return it instead of settling for a touchback.

Abdullah produced an astonishing 53-yard gain on the return, putting the Jags just within field-goal range, and Cam Little nailed an improbable 57-yarder with one second remaining to silence the largely pro-Eagles crowd.

We had Anthony Paphitis reporting live from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a full account of the game below, so we’ll leave the detailed recap to him.

Vikings stay perfect to seize control of NFC North

Did anyone realistically expect the Minnesota Vikings to open 2026 at 5-0?

Despite finishing 2025 on a five-game winning run, their offense looked flat and ineffective again in pre-season, with many tipping them to win just eight or nine games this year.

Their defence and special teams have been the foundation of this run, and it showed again in Week 5 as they limited the New Orleans Saints to a single touchdown at home, a second-quarter score from running back Kendre Miller, his first of the season.

Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray was outstanding too, completing 80% of his passes for 229 yards, but it was Aaron Jones’ first rushing touchdown of the year that put the game beyond reach in the final quarter.

Texans off the mark at last

History repeated itself in Nashville, as for the second year running the Texans ended a winless start to the season with 26 points against the Tennessee Titans.

Under scrutiny after his struggles in last year's playoffs, C.J. Stroud responded with 261 passing yards, throwing for one touchdown and adding a rushing score of his own in the third quarter, while Houston limited Tennessee to just 187 total yards, the fewest they have allowed during their own 0-5 start to 2026.

Tennessee managed a dismal 49 yards across the second and third quarters combined, being outscored 16-0 in that stretch in a lifeless performance that showed exactly why they are among the favourites to finish bottom of the AFC.

Titans quarterback Cam Ward was sacked four times for a combined loss of 40 yards, a stat that rather summed up Tennessee's afternoon, which also included 11 penalties for 95 yards.

The final margin could have been far more lopsided had the Texans not failed to capitalize on two separate trips inside the Titans' 20-yard line in the first half.

Punt disaster derails Browns in the rain

Persistent heavy rain spoiled a pivotal AFC matchup between the 2-2 New York Jets and 2-2 Cleveland Browns, and it felt inevitable that a messy mistake in the miserable conditions would prove decisive in the fourth quarter.

With four minutes left and Cleveland leading 12-10 in opposition territory, punter Corey Bojorquez was sent a wayward snap high above his head in the pouring rain.

Forced to leap just to get hands on it, Bojorquez saw the slick ball slip through his grasp, with the Jets recovering less than 30 yards out before striking with the winning touchdown just three plays later on third-and-9.

It was a day when Cleveland finished with season-lows of 198 net yards and 13 first downs perhaps understandable given the weather but their 25% conversion rate on third down was still hard to excuse, especially with the Jets converting at 47% in the same conditions.

The botched punt snap proved to be the turning point, but not before the Browns had a chance to produce a fourth straight go-ahead drive after last-gasp wins over the Buccaneers, Panthers and Steelers in recent weeks. Instead, the offense gave it away when quarterback Deshaun Watson fumbled after being sacked with just 57 seconds remaining.

Jets edge rusher David Bailey, the second overall pick in the 2026 draft, was outstanding defensively, finishing with three sacks, eight tackles four for a loss and a forced fumble.
