Messi held scoreless but Miami wins second straight under Hoyos. De Paul’s 82nd-minute blast, Suarez goal sink RSL in MLS priciest game...
Luis Suarez netted his first MLS goal of the season while Lionel Messi was kept off the scoresheet, as champions Inter Miami scored twice late to beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 Wednesday.
Fans who paid more than $450 on average to watch Messi’s first game in Salt Lake City saw the Argentine play the full 90 minutes.
Lionel Messi created multiple chances but was denied by Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael Cabral. Rodrigo De Paul finally broke through for Miami in the 82nd minute.
De Paul rifled a shot from a corner that slipped past Cabral and into the top right corner.

A minute later, second-half sub Luis Suarez doubled the lead. He ran onto German Berterame’s header and finished with his left foot.
“We played a great first half,” De Paul told Apple TV. The win was Miami’s second in a row under interim coach Guillermo Hoyos.
“It was a beautiful goal, and as long as it helps the team, I’m happy,” he said. Miami’s win snapped Real Salt Lake’s six-match unbeaten streak.
The goal was Suarez’s first of 2026 and his 44th in 93 games for Miami. The 39-year-old Uruguayan previously starred for Liverpool and Barcelona.

Miami are unbeaten since a 3-0 opening-day loss to Son Heung-min’s LAFC.
The result keeps Miami second in the Eastern Conference on 18 points, one behind Nashville SC, who have a game in hand.
