Chicago Cubs pitcher Cade Horton leaves game against Cleveland Guardians with right forearm discomfort, in tears.
Promising young starter Cade Horton injured, to undergo imaging on Monday...
Cade Horton, the Chicago Cubs' starting pitcher, left Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians in tears due to right forearm discomfort. He threw a fastball to Bo Naylor before manager Craig Counsell and trainers visited him on the mound, and he ultimately decided to exit the game.
This is a concerning development for the Cubs, as Horton was expected to be a key part of their pitching rotation this season. He had a strong start to the season, getting through the first inning without allowing a hit in his second start. The team will likely place him on the injured list while he undergoes further evaluation and treatment.
Taylor McGregor reported that Horton was emotional, in tears even, as he headed into the clubhouse after the game.
Horton revealed in his post-game interview that he first felt discomfort in his wrist, which progressed to his forearm. He's scheduled for imaging on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.

Cade Horton made a solid season debut on March 28th against the Washington Nationals, tossing 6.1 innings and giving up two earned runs on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
The young starter made a big impression in his MLB debut last season with the Cubs. He finished with an 11-4 record and a 2.67 ERA through 22 starts (23 games).
Horton's stats from last season were impressive: 97 strikeouts, 95 hits, and 33 walks through 118 innings. He was runner-up to Drake Baldwin (Atlanta Braves) in National League Rookie of the Year voting.
The Chicago Cubs are struggling, sitting at 3-4 and last place in the NL Central division. They're looking to bounce back in game two of their series against the Cleveland Guardians, which starts at 7:15 p.m. Eastern time today.
