Haaland's 28th career hat-trick helps City knock Liverpool out of FA Cup...

Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick as Manchester City secured a 4-0 win over Liverpool, booking their eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance at the Etihad Stadium. This marks City's third successive win against Liverpool, their first since 1947.

Haaland's impressive performance included three goals, with Phil Foden contributing to the team's dominant display. City's victory sets them up for a potential treble, having already lifted the Carabao Cup two weeks ago.

Liverpool created an early chance when Giorgi Mamardashvili's long punt forward found Mohamed Salah in behind, but Abdukodir Khusanov made a crucial tackle to prevent the Egyptian from getting a clear shot on goal.

Hugo Ekitike had another golden opportunity, but it went beggy. Rodri's loose touch on the edge of the area fell perfectly for him, but he blazed it over the bar.

Despite creating chances, City took the lead, thanks to a Liverpool blunder. Van Dijk's clunky challenge in the box gifted City a penalty, and Haaland made no mistake from the spot, sending Mamardashvili the wrong way.

That proved to be the first of a quick-fire double for Haaland, who wriggled free inside the area to head home Antoine Semenyo’s teasing delivery, sending City into the break with a two-goal lead.

A seething Arne Slot sent his Liverpool side out for the second half well before City, and his mood won't have been helped when the hosts added a third within five minutes of the restart.

.

Things got even better for Pep Guardiola's men before the hour mark as they continued dominating, with Haaland scoring his 28th career hat-trick, sweeping in O'Reilly's cut back.

Just as Liverpool thought their afternoon couldn't get worse, Salah had a penalty saved by James Trafford after Matheus Nunes fouled Ekitike in the area. The game was basically over from then on, with both teams just playing out the last 20 minutes of a game that was already decided.

Manchester City is heading back to Wembley, needing just one more win to secure their fourth consecutive FA Cup final appearance. Meanwhile, Liverpool is shifting focus to their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain, which kicks off on Wednesday, after suffering a 4-0 loss to City.
