NBA updates: Oklahoma City Thunder secure playoff spot, Detroit Pistons lead Eastern Conference, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's record-breaking streak and Cade.

“We got off to a good start, but then the car kind of came off the road for a little bit...”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 40 points, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 113-108 win over the Orlando Magic, securing their spot in the NBA playoffs - the first team to do so this season. This marks the Thunder's third consecutive playoff appearance.

Gilgeous-Alexander's stellar performance was backed by Chet Holmgren's 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Ajay Mitchell contributed 16 points to seal the win in the fourth quarter. The Thunder's victory improves their record to 54-15, maintaining their lead in the Western Conference.

OKC's on fire, 54-15 with their ninth straight win, topping the Western Conference ahead of San Antonio Spurs.

Orlando's struggling, 38-30, stuck in sixth place Eastern Conference. Paolo Banchero dropped 32 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, but it wasn't enough.

“We got off to a good start, but then the car kind of came off the road for a little bit,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

“But that's what great teams do - they figure out a way to get the car back on the road, they figure out a way to go into a building and win a game when the chips are stacked against you, and we did that tonight.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning NBA MVP, praised the Thunder's resilience after a mixed first-half performance, leading them to a 113-108 win over the Orlando Magic. He dropped 40 points, showcasing his exceptional skill and leadership.

Gilgeous-Alexander's virtuoso display extended his record-breaking streak of consecutive games scoring 20 points or more to 129.

Around The League

Pistons get a W, 49-19 now. Jalen Duren dropped 36 points, but it's a bittersweet win.

Cade Cunningham's out with a back issue, and it's a major concern. He was one of the favorites for MVP, and his absence is huge.

The New York Knicks crushed the Indiana Pacers 136-110, solidifying their third-place position in the Eastern Conference. This win marks their fourth straight victory, despite missing star guard Jalen Brunson due to a right ankle injury.

Josh Hart led the charge with a season-high 33 points, shooting an impressive 12-of-13 from the field, including a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range. OG Anunoby added 26 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Knicks' balanced attack saw five starters reach double figures.
