Man Utd's Carrick wary of tricky Bournemouth trip

Bournemouth vs Man Utd: Carrick's side look to bounce back from Newcastle defeat. Michael Carrick warns Manchester United of tough trip to Bournemouth as they aim for Champions League spot.

Man Utd face Iraola's unbeaten Cherries in crucial Premier League clash...

Manchester United's manager, Michael Carrick, is warning his team to expect a tough match against Bournemouth on Friday, as they aim to keep their Champions League hopes alive. The Red Devils have been on a roll since Carrick took over as caretaker boss in January, and they're currently third in the Premier League.

Carrick knows Bournemouth won't be easy to beat, especially since they're undefeated in their last 10 league games. “It's a tough place to go,” he said, acknowledging the challenge ahead. The Cherries are 10th in the table, but they've made life difficult for United in recent seasons, including a 4-4 draw at Old Trafford in December.

Manchester United has bounced back from their first loss under Michael Carrick, securing a 3-1 win over Aston Villa and reclaiming third place in the Premier League. Casemiro, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko scored the goals, with Bruno Fernandes contributing two assists. This victory sets them up nicely for their upcoming trip to Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are struggling in 10th place, but they've been a tough opponent for Man Utd recently. The Cherries drew 4-4 at Old Trafford in December, extending their unbeaten run against United.

Iraola's stats against United are impressive - he's unbeaten in his last 5 matches against them. With rumors linking him to the Man Utd job, he'll be looking to keep that streak alive.

Manchester United's impressive turnaround under Michael Carrick's leadership has sparked speculation that he might secure the permanent manager role at Old Trafford. Since taking over as interim boss in January, Carrick has led the team to 22 points from 9 games, with only one defeat - a stark contrast to their struggles under previous managers Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

Carrick's success has earned praise from Bournemouth's manager, Andoni Iraola, who believes United are currently one of the best teams in the Premier League. With United currently third in the table, Carrick's future looks bright, and the club hierarchy might consider making his appointment permanent.

“It's a tough game,” Carrick said of Bournemouth, undefeated in their last 10 matches in the Premier League.

“It's a tough place to go. They're on a really good run of form, so, yeah, a difficult game,” he also told a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“We're obviously going down there, we've had a good run, and the boys are in good shape but yeah, always a difficult game. Always has been and probably always will be.

“We know that they're a really good team, well coached, really well coached, and good energy. We know we'll be in for a game down there on Friday.”

Man Utd's away form has been shaky, with just 2 wins from their last 7 matches. Their last away game ended in a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Newcastle, where they conceded a late goal. This trip to Bournemouth will be a chance to get back to winning ways.

But Carrick said: “Whether it's home or away, it's not something we kind of look at too much. It's the next game, really.”

He added: “It's been nice to be able to win at home and put that in place, and to go and play at Old Trafford with a real feeling of confidence and looking forward to the game and for the supporters to feel that as well and leaving with a good feeling.”

Injuries are piling up for Man Utd - De Ligt, Dorgu, and Lisandro Martinez are all out for Friday's match against Bournemouth. However, Martinez is expected to be back in action for the Leeds game on April 13th.

With the international break and no Europa League fixtures, United's schedule is looking pretty light. They're actually got a 24-day wait until their next game after Bournemouth, with the FA Cup exit giving them some breathing room.

“You've got to be really flexible, you know, to come off the back of it in good shape,” Carrick said.

“The boys will have a break, in some way, but we're definitely mindful of it for sure, and it's a little bit unique in some ways, having the week after the internationals to prepare for the next game.”
