Lyle Foster: Bafana Bafana's Powerhouse Needs Goal-Scoring Form
| Williams backs Foster to silence critics |
Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams backs Lyle Foster to bounce back from recent goal drought, citing his quality and experience. Foster, a key player for South Africa, has scored 10 goals in 29 caps, but recent performances have raised concerns about his finishing.
“I have been trying to keep my eye on him, but it seems like he is okay...”
Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams is backing Lyle Foster to bounce back from a disappointing night against Panama, where he missed several good chances. Foster struggled in the 1-1 draw in Durban, drawing criticism from some fans.
Williams believes Foster will put it right when the teams meet again in Cape Town on Tuesday. “He's a top player, he'll get goals,” Williams said of Foster, who's been in good form for Burnley.
Ronwen Williams, South Africa's goalkeeper, believes Lyle Foster has the quality to excel and add to his 10 goals in 29 caps, despite facing criticism. Williams expects the criticism to motivate Foster, saying it's unlikely to affect him negatively.
Foster, who plays for Burnley, has been instrumental in South Africa's qualifying campaign, showcasing his skills and trickery on the ball. With his impressive performances, he's become a key player for Bafana Bafana, and Williams is confident he'll continue to shine.
“Lyle is a big boy. You don’t play in the (English) Premiership for so many years if you don’t have quality. You just have to remind him that you are quality,” said Williams.

“Yes, he is probably in a difficult moment, not only with the national team but with his club team as well. It is a difficult moment for him, and people have to understand that when you watch where his team is at and how difficult it is for him.
“But for him to wake up every day, show up, show faith, try and go again, to miss chances and to look for the next one. He keeps running, he keeps working for the team. That’s all we can ask.
“Eventually, the ball will go into the back of the net because he has got the quality.”
Ronwen Williams is offering support to Lyle Foster, saying he's there for him if needed, but is confident the striker will bounce back. “I'm here for him if he needs me, but I don't think he will,” Williams said.
The grind never stops. 💪🏽 The boys are putting the final touches on their game plan before taking on Panama tomorrow night. Bring the noise to DHL Stadium and let's back our boys! 🗣️🇿🇦 🔥⚽️🇿🇦

Williams believes Foster's quality and experience will help him overcome the criticism and continue to perform for Bafana Bafana. With 10 goals in 29 caps, Foster is a key player, and Williams is expecting big things from him.
“I have been trying to keep my eye on him, but it seems like he is okay. I just think he needs that goal to get his confidence back. Strikers like anyone when the ball is back in the net then they are confident,” he said.
“Hopefully, if he gets the chances (against Panama), he can bury them, and he can go back to England happy.
“We need a Lyle in good spirits. The country must support him in good and bad moments.”
