Liam Rosenior's Chelsea concede 'cheap goals

Chelsea lose at Everton, Liam Rosenior frustrated with 'cheap goals'. Everton moves up to seventh with 3-0 win over Chelsea, Beto scores twice.

“We set up the team a little differently today, concentrating on a 4-4-2 shape and I thought we were comfortable before Everton scored...“

Everton gave Chelsea a thorough beating, winning 3-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Beto scoring twice. This loss leaves Liam Rosenior's team frustrated, especially after conceding “cheap goals” in recent games. Chelsea remains sixth in the table with 48 points from 31 games, while Everton jumps to seventh with 46 points, pushing hard for European football next season.

Everton's strong performance was capped by Iliman Ndiaye's stunning third goal, making it their biggest win over Chelsea since 1987. James Garner, fresh from his England call-up, played a crucial role with an outstanding assist for Beto's first goal. Rosenior took responsibility for his team's defensive lapses, acknowledging they're gifting goals away too often.

Beto opened the scoring on 33 minutes, thanks to a superb pass from James Garner, who's celebrating his first England call-up with a stellar performance. Beto doubled the lead just past the hour, firing through Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez's legs.

Iliman Ndiaye sealed Everton's 3-0 win over Chelsea with a superb goal, curling the ball into the top corner with 14 minutes left to play. This was Everton's biggest victory over Chelsea since 1987 and marked their first back-to-back wins at their new stadium.

Chelsea's struggles continue, with four consecutive losses in all competitions, including a Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain. This latest defeat leaves them in sixth place, just two points ahead of Everton, who are pushing for European football next season.

“The responsibility and accountability is with me,” Rosenior told Sky Sports. “We set up the team a little differently today, concentrating on a 4-4-2 shape and I thought we were comfortable (before Everton scored).

“The difference ‌in the game was in both boxes, they (Everton) were clinical and it was a wonderful finish from Ndiaye.”

Liam Rosenior wasn't happy with Chelsea's start, saying they've conceded “cheap goals” in recent games. “It's frustrating, we can't keep giving away goals like that,” he said, hinting at a bigger issue?

“Goals give you energy and at the moment we are gifting goals away,” he said. “We started the game edgy and then we played our way into it.

“But it seems to be happening too often that we give cheap goals away and that gives energy to the ‌opposition and the crowd, and their confidence goes up.

“Everton fully deserved the victory and it is something we have to change very quickly.”

James Garner's on fire. He's now got 6 PL assists this season, up from just 4 in his entire career before this. No wonder he's got an England call-up.

“I’m so happy, I’m over the moon. It’s a dream,” he said. “He (England manager Thomas Tuchel) rang me and said I’ll be involved; it’s been a crazy week, and to ‌top it off with a win is even better.”
