Denmark's coach, Brian Riemer, is taking responsibility for his team's loss to Czechia, stating there are no excuses for missing out on the World Cup. Denmark lost 3-1 to Czechia in a penalty shootout after the match ended 2-2 after extra time.
Riemer acknowledged his team's shortcomings, saying they only had themselves to blame for the loss. Czechia secured their spot in the 2026 World Cup with this win, marking their first appearance in the tournament since 2006.

Denmark's World Cup dreams were dashed despite being top-seeded, as they failed to capitalize on opportunities against Belarus, Scotland, and Czech Republic. Now, they'll be watching from home as 48 teams compete in the World Cup this summer.
“We are, of course, disappointed that we could not give the Danes the ultimate goal. A World Cup that we all dreamed of – both players and our nation. Of course, it's on our shoulders, and it is we who have failed and have not qualified the team.”
“We should not stand around making excuses on a night like tonight. We lacked the final quality. We had a grip on the game in many ways, but we did not create enough chances,” said Riemer to TV Sport.
Riemer pinpointed Denmark's 2-2 draw against Belarus in the Parken stadium as a turning point in their qualifying campaign, saying it marked the start of their struggles.
