Stewart suspended 7 games over Pistons-Hornets brawl

NBA suspends Isaiah Stewart for 7 games, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate for 4 games each, and Jalen Duren for 2 games following altercation between Pistons and Hornets.

Duren's team, the Pistons, are topping the Eastern Conference with a 39-13 record. As for the Hornets...

Isaiah Stewart, the Detroit Pistons forward, has been handed a seven-game suspension by the NBA for his role in the brawl against the Charlotte Hornets. Stewart left the bench and aggressively entered the on-court altercation, which led to his suspension. The length of the suspension is partly due to his history of unsportsmanlike acts.

Three other players were also suspended: Jalen Duren (two games), Miles Bridges (four games), and Moussa Diabate (four games). The brawl started when Diabate fouled Duren, leading to a scuffle between the two teams.

Stewart's suspension means he'll miss the next seven games, including the Pistons' matchup against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. Duren's suspension will also see him miss two games, but he'll still participate in the All-Star Game.

NBA suspensions handed out after Monday's scuffle: Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate (Hornets) get 4 games each for fighting and escalating things, while Jalen Duren (Pistons) gets 2 games for starting it and fighting. All were ejected with 7:09 left in Q3.

The fight broke out during Detroit's 110-104 win over Charlotte.

The brawl started when Moussa Diabate fouled Jalen Duren on defense. Now, suspensions are in place: Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren (Pistons) start serving theirs vs Toronto, while Miles Bridges and Diabate (Hornets) start theirs vs Atlanta.

Stewart's suspension costs him over $724,000 in salary, and he won't play again till March 3rd vs Cleveland. He's averaging 10 points and 5.1 rebounds this season.

Jalen Duren's got All-Star vibes. The Pistons big man, averaging 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds this season, is expected to play in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game in LA despite his 2-game suspension.

Duren's team, the Pistons, are topping the Eastern Conference with a 39-13 record. As for the Hornets, they'll be back at full strength on Feb 24 when they visit Chicago - that's when Bridges (18.2 points, 6.1 rebounds) and Diabate (8.2 points, 8.6 rebounds) return from their suspensions.
