Luis Enrique: No Player is Above PSG
| PSG Coach Luis Enrique brushes off Dembele's criticism |
PSG coach Luis Enrique dismisses Ousmane Dembele's comments on team spirit, saying “There's always a lot of noise around PSG, and we have to accept it.”
“It's football, it's the same thing, you have to try to do the same thing to win the match. What I hope is to see the best version of PSG...”
Paris St Germain coach Luis Enrique is brushing off Ousmane Dembele's criticism about team spirit, saying “There's always a lot of noise around PSG, and we have to accept it.” Dembele had called out his teammates after PSG's 3-1 loss to Rennes, urging them to play for the team, not just themselves.
Enrique thinks the criticism is "worthless” and emphasizes that no player is above the club. He's focused on PSG's upcoming Champions League playoff against Monaco, saying they're motivated and will try to win. Enrique also drew parallels to last season, when PSG overcame initial struggles to become superior to their opponents.
PSG's recent struggles have been evident, with a challenging few months that saw them fail to finish in the top eight of the Champions League and struggle to dominate Ligue 1.
Coach Luis Enrique brushed off Dembele's comments, saying, “There's always a lot of noise around PSG, and we have to accept it. That's it.”
Enrique emphasized that PSG's defeat to Rennes was cruel, given their performance, and expressed motivation for the upcoming Champions League playoff against Monaco. He also highlighted PSG's past success, stating they started the Champions League last season with similar inefficiencies but went on to win, and is confident they can bounce back.
Luis Enrique brushed off Ousmane Dembele's criticism yet again, sticking to his “no comment” approach. He seems unfazed by Dembele's comments, focusing instead on PSG's upcoming match against Monaco.
“The defeat (by Rennes) was cruel because if you consider what we created, it was similar to what we did against Marseille when we scored five goals. But we only got one against Rennes,” said the coach.
“We would have liked to come to Monaco with a victory, that's true, but it’s the Champions League and we're motivated.”
PSG lost 1-0 at Monaco in November. “We can expect a match similar to the one we played. We’re not going to change anything because we're going to try to win this match,” Luis Enrique added.
Luis Enrique wasn't worried about Monaco being a domestic rival, saying PSG's focus is on the game itself. “It's a knockout game, we're playing against a great team,” he emphasized, highlighting the Champions League stakes.
“It's football, it's the same thing, you have to try to do the same thing to win the match. What I hope is to see the best version of PSG.
“We started the Champions League last season with the same lack of efficiency, but when you look at the results we later had, it meant we were superior to our opponents, and that's what we're aiming for again. I'm sure we can get back to that very quickly,” he added.
