Managerless Stade Rennais pulled off a stunning 3-1 home win over Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain, ending their four-match losing streak in all competitions. This surprise victory keeps PSG's lead at just two points over Lens, ending their seven-match winning run.
Caretaker coach Sébastien Tambouret made significant changes from Rennes' previous defeat to Lens, which marked the end of Habib Beye's tenure. However, he kept faith with Esteban Lepaul, who nearly scored within six minutes, hitting the post with a 25-yard strike.
One of the recalled Rennes starters was Brice Samba, and it was his turn to show his worth in the 12th minute, when Ousmane Dembélé played Désiré Doué through, but the goalkeeper stood tall to deny Doué’s chip.
Les Parisiens looked to be slowly gaining the upper hand soon after the half-hour mark when Dembélé cut in from the right wing and forced Samba to bat away his curling strike, only for Musa Al-Taamari to show the Ballon d’Or winner exactly how it’s done two minutes later.
Musa Al-Taamari scored his third Ligue 1 goal of the season, showcasing his skill as he cut inside Willian Pacho and beat Matvey Safonov. Rennes held onto their lead until halftime, despite PSG's push, particularly Nuno Mendes' clever play that set up Joao Neves, who unfortunately couldn't capitalize
The home side spurned a brilliant chance to double their lead in the opening minute of the second half, but after Ilya Zabarnyi’s poor control sent Arnaud Nordin bearing down on goal, he could only steer the ball wide.
PSG had been let off the hook, but were not threatening enough at the other end, as Doué skewed an effort wide after good build-up play, while a key deflection took a Pacho header wide on the other side of the hour mark.
Rennes capitalized on PSG's missed chances, punishing them for their wastefulness. With just over 20 minutes to play, Sebastian Szymański's whipped cross found Esteban Lepaul, who headed it past Matvey Safonov, sealing the win.
However, the game was back on again within seconds of the restart, as PSG moved the ball wide to Achraf Hakimi, and his deflected cross sat up nicely for Dembélé to nod home from six yards.
Luis Enrique’s side began to pepper the Rennes goal, but Gonçalo Ramos was denied by a superb Samba save, before Bradley Barcola danced through the defence, only to shoot wide.

PSG quickly turned the game around, with Achraf Hakimi's deflected cross setting up Ousmane Dembélé for an easy goal. Luis Enrique's team pushed hard, but Rennes' Brice Samba made a great save to deny Gonçalo Ramos, and Bradley Barcola's solo effort went wide.
Rennes wrapped up the win with a counter-attack in the final 10 minutes, Ludovic Blas squared it for Breel Embolo, who scored off his midriff. This victory marks the end of a four-match losing streak against PSG and PSG's eight-game win streak in all competitions is now reduced to four wins
