Bournemouth battled back to secure a 1-1 draw with Sunderland, extending their unbeaten Premier League run to eight games. The Cherries remain eighth in the table.
Sunderland started strongly, creating an early chance through Noah Sadiki, but Dorde Petrovic made a solid save. The Black Cats then had a penalty appeal turned down, setting the tone for a tense encounter.
The hosts gradually worked their way into the match as the first half progressed. After 12 minutes, Eli Junior Kroupi had a great chance, but his shot from inside the box flew wide of the target.
Regis Le Bris's side made the breakthrough with a lovely team move. Habib Diarra's stinger was palmed away by Petrovic, but Eliezer Mayenda was on hand to score his first PL goal since the season opener, netting the ball into the back of the net.
The Cherries responded with urgency, and Robin Roefs was soon needed to produce an impressive double save to keep Sunderland ahead.
Andoni Iraola’s team continued to look dangerous in the final third in their search for an equaliser, and Roefs was once again required to make an important stop to prevent Marcus Tavernier from levelling the game before the interval with a well-struck free-kick.
The break allowed the Black Cats to regroup, and they nearly made a dream start to the second half. Within two minutes of the restart, Diarra broke free, but his strike lacked accuracy, and Petrovic made a vital block.
Sunderland's miss proved costly, as substitute Evanilson headed home Tavernier's cross to equalise in the 64th minute, setting up an intriguing final quarter.

Despite both sides pushing hard, a winner couldn't be found, and a point apiece was probably fair. The Black Cats had a late goal ruled out for offside.
Bournemouth will host Brentford on Tuesday, aiming to keep European qualification hopes alive. Sunderland, now 11th, face Leeds at Elland Road, looking to bounce back with a win.
