World number one Carlos Alcaraz extended his unbeaten run in 2026, defeating defending champion Andrey Rublev 7-6(3) 6-4 to reach the Qatar Open final. This marks his 12th final in his last 13 tournaments and 11th consecutive win this season.
Alcaraz showed remarkable resilience as Rublev fought back from 3-0 down to level the second set and saved five match points. However, the Spaniard ultimately prevailed, converting his sixth match point when Rublev's backhand landed wide. Alcaraz expressed pride in his improving match approach and tactics, saying, “I know what I'm able to do every time I step on court... I'm just really proud about it.”

Andrey Rublev's struggles continued in the first set, with 14 unforced backhand errors, but he managed to outsmart Carlos Alcaraz with precise forehands that nicked the baseline. The two players broke each other twice, sending the set to a tiebreak. Alcaraz took control, going 6-3 up in the tiebreak, while a frustrated Rublev broke a string after smashing his racket on his left knee.
