Brighton Boss Fabian Hurzeler on Mohamed Salah and Liverpool Clash
| Hurzeler hopes for Salah showdown as Brighton visit Anfield |
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler wants to see Mohamed Salah in action when they face Liverpool at Anfield.
“We always want to face the best players, the best teams. We try to go for this challenge, to be honest...”
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler is hoping to see Mohamed Salah in Liverpool's starting lineup when they face off on Saturday. Hurzeler expressed his desire for Salah to play, amidst controversy surrounding the Egyptian forward's future at Anfield.
Salah's situation has been uncertain after he accused Liverpool of throwing him “under the bus” following a 3-3 draw with Leeds United. He was left out of Liverpool's squad for their Champions League match against Inter Milan, sparking speculation about his future at the club.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot is set to meet with Salah on Friday to discuss his involvement in Saturday's match. Slot has stated that he has “no reasons not wanting him to stay” at the club, but the outcome of their conversation will determine Salah's participation against Brighton.
“We always want to face the best players, the best teams. We try to go for this challenge, to be honest, we don't have any idea how Liverpool will play with which players that will face us, which formation,” he explained.
Hurzeler emphasized that the focus should be on Brighton & Hove Albion's own performance, rather than getting caught up in the drama surrounding Mohamed Salah and Liverpool manager Arne Slot. He believes the team needs to concentrate on their own game and not let external distractions affect them.
“It's about us, focusing on our principles, our style of play. We go there, we know no matter which situation Liverpool is it will be a big challenge, so we try to face it and we try to win this game.”

Shared Struggles
Hurzeler acknowledged that both Brighton and Liverpool have experienced inconsistency this season, making it a tricky match to predict. The Brighton boss is focusing on his team's own game, rather than worrying about Liverpool's internal issues.
“We have also been up and down this season, so I think at the moment there are maybe two clubs in the league who have consistency.
“All the others are fighting against each other; it is quite competitive and Liverpool is part of that.
“Every game there is an opportunity for us to win it and every game we prove this season we can beat other teams.”
Ferguson's Roma Stint
Evan Ferguson's loan with Roma seems to be going well, with the youngster scoring twice in the Europa League. There were talks about possibly ending the loan early in January, but Hurzeler didn't rule anything out, suggesting it's something they'd consider.
And Hurzeler confirmed this morning: “Evan is a player for us, that is why he will always be an option. At the moment, he is on loan, but we follow it; we are pleased with how he performed yesterday. Of course, we all follow it, so definitely he might be an option.”
