Ruben Amorim's United Face Uphill Task

Ruben Amorim
Amorim seeks turnaround after poor away form

Manchester United will be without Matheus Cunha for their Premier League match against Crystal Palace, adding to Ruben Amorim's woes.

“We have to feel that urgency of winning games, we know what happened around the club if we don't win games...”

Manchester United is facing a tough challenge against Crystal Palace this Sunday, as they'll be missing key players Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Harry Maguire due to injuries. Cunha, who suffered a head injury in training, was a standout performer for United, and his absence will be deeply felt, especially after Monday's 1-0 loss to Everton, where his creative spark was sorely missed.

Ruben Amorim, the United boss, is hoping to have Cunha back for the midweek clash against West Ham, but for now, he'll have to rely on other players to step up. Sesko, who has a knee injury, and Maguire, with a thigh injury, will also be missed, adding to Amorim's woes.

United is currently 10th in the league table with 18 points, but they're just two points behind fifth-placed Manchester United is facing a tough Sunday as they'll be without Matheus Cunha for their Premier League match against Crystal Palace. Cunha, who picked up a head injury in training, has been ruled out alongside striker Benjamin Sesko and defender Harry Maguire, dealing a blow to Ruben Amorim's squad.

The Brazilian forward's absence is particularly felt, given his explosive creativity was sorely missed in Monday's 1-0 loss to Everton. Amorim had hoped Cunha would return soon, saying “Matheus the next one, not this one,” indicating he might be back for the midweek clash against West Ham.

Cunha's injury is a setback for United, who are currently 10th in the Premier League table with 18 points from 12 matches. Amorim is looking for ways to turn their season around, but will have to do so without Cunha's spark for now.

“Sesko (needs) a little bit more time. Harry the same. Matheus (might be available) the next game, not this one,” Amorim said on Friday.

“I think I look at the games, we should have more points,” he said, in reference to draws with Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest. “Because we had control of some games, we had the advantage in some games, and we lost that control.

“And that is really disappointing, really frustrating, especially in the last game.”

Ruben Amorim is keeping a level head despite Manchester United's struggles. After Monday's loss to Everton, he expressed his disappointment, stating that his team was “nowhere near the level they should be at.” Amorim is aware that the Premier League is unpredictable, and teams can quickly go from top to bottom.

When asked how to avoid a repeat of last season's poor run, which saw United finish 15th, Amorim replied, "We need to understand that, especially in our league this year, everything can change really fast. So let's go again and focus on the next one.” This mindset shows Amorim's focus on taking things one game at a time and moving forward.

“We have to feel that urgency of winning games, we know what happened around the club if we don't win games.”

Manchester United's away form has been a concern, with just one win in their last 11 away matches. This stat highlights the team's struggles on the road and adds pressure on them to turn things around, especially against Crystal Palace this Sunday.

“It's hard to point to one thing why we are not winning away. There's a lot of issues we are improving. We need to know how to finish the games in order to win,” Amorim said.

"I felt during this (season) that when we play at home, the intensity was higher, (but) I felt in this game at home (on Monday), the intensity was not at the same level. So I think (it) is something that we need to work on.”
