Tottenham Hotspur has issued a statement confirming their support for 22-year-old Italian defender Destiny Udogie and his family after he was allegedly threatened with a gun in London. The club emphasized their commitment to Udogie's safety and well-being.
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred on September 6 in north London. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a license. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.
A Tottenham spokesperson confirmed that the club has been providing support to Destiny Udogie and his family following an alleged incident. The spokesman stated, “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

The Metropolitan Police were called to an incident in a north London suburb on September 6, where a man in his 20s was allegedly threatened with a gun. The area is known to be popular with several Tottenham and Arsenal players. An investigation is ongoing, and a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail, and driving without a license.
A spokesman said: “Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual.
“No injuries were reported in either incident.
“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence.”
Tottenham's Destiny Udogie played a key role in the team's 4-0 Champions League home win over Copenhagen on Tuesday, providing balance to the left side with his driving runs and occasionally moving inside to allow Wilson Odobert to go wide.
