Regis Le Bris' Sunderland aims to capitalize on Wolves' desperation as they host bottom-of-the-table opponents in the Premier League. Can Sunderland's clinical finishing be the difference against a struggling Wolves side looking for their first win?

“We checked Noah yesterday and he seems okay. We will see after the training sessions, today and tomorrow, if he will be available for this weekend - but we are positive...”

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris is preparing his team for a crucial Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) this weekend. A win would propel the Black Cats into the top six of the league table, a significant achievement considering their current form.

Le Bris expressed sympathy for Wolves, acknowledging the challenges they face in the Premier League. Despite being bottom of the table, Wolves have shown resilience in their last two games, earning a point against Brighton and Tottenham. “They struggled at the beginning of the league, but the last two games showed that they are really competitive. They deserved to win their last two games,” Le Bris said

Sunderland will need to capitalize on their home advantage and find a way to breach Wolves' defense. Wolves have conceded crucial goals in their last two games, and Sunderland's clinical finishing will be put to the test. Le Bris emphasized the importance of Sunderland's performance, saying, “If you don’t pay attention to small details, you will be punished.”

Injury Update on Sadiki and Alderete

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has provided an update on the injuries sustained by midfielder Noah Sadiki and defender Omar Alderete while on international duty. Both players are uncertain to feature in Saturday's match against Wolves.

Sadiki, who plays for DR Congo, suffered an ankle sprain during his team's World Cup qualifier against Sudan. Le Bris said, “We checked Noah yesterday and he seems okay. We'll see after the training sessions today and tomorrow if he's available, but we are positive.” Sadiki's experience with this type of injury could work in his favor, as he knows how it evolves and how serious it can be.

Alderete, who represents Paraguay, sustained a posterior thigh muscle strain during Paraguay's friendly match against South Korea. Le Bris mentioned that Alderete had just arrived back from a 20-hour flight and would be assessed again in the afternoon. “We'll see. We'll check him this afternoon. We already had a chat with him yesterday which was positive. We just have to wait a bit to assess him,” Le Bris added.

If Sadiki and Alderete are unavailable, Sunderland may need to make changes to their lineup. Northern Ireland defender Dan Ballard could start in place of Alderete, having impressed with a man-of-the-match performance against Germany during the international break.

“Omar has just come off a 20-hour flight, so we will see. We will assess him again this afternoon. We already had a chat with him yesterday, which was positive. We just have to wait a bit to assess him.”

Ballard's Rise Could Benefit Sunderland

Regis Le Bris noted that Daniel Ballard's impressive performances for Northern Ireland during the international break are good news for Sunderland, potentially paving the way for him to start in place of the injured Omar Alderete.

“He was really close to our squad at the start of this season, but after that he got an injury and another player came in and played well. It was good news for our squad because competition is needed at this level to push the players.

“He plays at a high level and he is always ready to play, so that's always a positive for a manager.”

Wolves Desperate for Win

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris warned that Wolves are a team in crisis, desperate to grab their first win and escape the relegation zone. Despite the pressure on the team, Le Bris noted that the Wolves board has expressed full confidence in manager Vítor Pereire. Le Bris emphasized the need for Sunderland to capitalize on their home advantage and be clinical in front of goal to secure a win.

“They struggled at the beginning of the league but the last two games showed that they are really competitive. They deserved to win their last two games. Good players, good energy, well coached.

“This is the league, you can struggle even if you are strong. If you are not clinical, you can be punished. They had many chances to score a second goal. That is the Premier League.

“I hope that we will be able to score twice and win.”

Home Advantage Key

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris emphasized the importance of his team capitalizing on home advantage at the Stadium of Light, highlighting the need for consistency and attention to detail to secure a win against Wolves.

“It’s positive but we can feel the danger. We felt for this 20 minutes when we struggled in one part of the game, the opponent was really able to damage our defence. So it shows that on one side that we’ve done well so far, but it’s fragile.

“So if you don’t pay attention to small details, you will be punished.

“We know we’re on the edge but it’s positive we have been competitive.”
