Manchester United secured a crucial 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford, marking their third consecutive home victory in the Premier League for the first time in over two years. This impressive win was fueled by a dazzling first-half performance that saw Mason Mount score a stunning goal in the eighth minute. Mount expertly finished a pass from Bryan Mbeumo, showcasing his composure and skill as he picked out the bottom corner of the net.

The visitors' goalkeeper, Robin Roefs, had an eventful game, making several impressive saves, including a notable stop from Granit Xhaka's long-range shot. However, he couldn't do much about Mount's precise strike or Benjamin Šeško's clinical finish in the 31st minute. Šeško doubled the lead for Manchester United after reacting quickly to a long throw-in from Diogo Dalot, tapping the ball past the Sunderland goalkeeper.

New signing Senne Lammens made his debut for Manchester United, showcasing his skills with some crucial saves, including a stunning stop from Chemsdine Talbi's shot in added time. Lammens' impressive performance helped seal a clean sheet for Manchester United, their first of the season. Manchester United's win puts them in eighth place with 10 points, while Sunderland sits seventh with 11 points.

Mason Mount's first Old Trafford goal for Manchester United sparked his team into life, with Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs making several impressive saves to keep his team in the game. United's attack was particularly potent on the right flank, with Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo both testing Roefs with curling shots. The Sunderland goalkeeper made a stunning save to tip Bruno Fernandes' strike onto the woodwork, and Amad's subsequent header on the rebound flew wide.

The second goal was a formality, and it arrived when Benjamin Šeško tapped home a close-range volley after Diogo Dalot's long throw caused chaos in the Sunderland box. This marked Šeško's second goal in as many matches, and it effectively sealed the win for Manchester United. United's dominance was evident throughout the first half, and they deservedly took control of the match.

Sunderland manager, made a tactical substitution at halftime, bringing in centre-back Dan Ballard to replace Simon Adingra in an attempt to solidify his team's defense against Manchester United's attacks. This move seemed to have some effect, as Brighton stabilized and even created some promising chances. Granit Xhaka's powerful long-range shot forced a save from Senne Lammens, and later, his corner kick led to a free header for Ballard at the back post, although the defender couldn't quite get it on target.

The game took a more subdued tone in the second half, with neither team managing a shot on target in the first 40 minutes after the restart. The visitors struggled to maintain their first-half momentum, and Manchester United failed to capitalize on their dominance, ultimately settling for a 2-0 win thanks to their first-half goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Šeško.

Eliezer Mayenda had a late opportunity to score for Sunderland, curling a shot over the bar, while goalkeeper Senne Lammens made a crucial save to deny Chemsdine Talbi. Despite these chances, Sunderland's lack of attacking threat throughout the match meant a comeback was never a realistic possibility.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim made history by becoming the first United boss since Sir Alex Ferguson to win his 50th game in charge. The 2-0 victory over Sunderland extended United's unbeaten league run against promoted sides to 25 matches, showcasing the team's dominance in these types of fixtures.

Sunderland's 2-0 defeat means they remain just a point above Manchester United in the league table, with the Black Cats having suffered only their second league defeat of the campaign. This loss also highlights Sunderland's struggles away from home, particularly against top teams like Manchester United and Manchester City, with Sunderland winning just one of their last 30 trips to face either team in the Premier League.
