| Jurrien Timber controls the ball as Arsenal takes on Crystal Palace in a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium |
Arsenal's Jurrien Timber urges team to stay humble despite topping the Premier League table. Don't get too high, says Jurrien Timber.
“Obviously, we've been doing well, but it's still early in the season, and we just have to keep getting better game by game...”
Jurrien Timber is cautioning his Arsenal teammates against complacency after their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, which extended their lead at the top of the Premier League standings. Timber emphasized the importance of staying grounded, saying, “It's good to stay neutral and not get too high. We've been doing well, but it's still early in the season, and we just have to keep getting better game by game.”
The Gunners' victory marked their seventh consecutive win in all competitions, with the team now four points clear of second-placed Bournemouth and six points ahead of Manchester City. Arsenal's impressive start to the season has been built on a solid defense, conceding just three goals in their opening 13 games across all competitions. Timber highlighted the team's consistency, stating, “Everyone plays a part in it, but it's a good thing and a good foundation to build on. From that standard, you just have to keep getting better and be consistent in what we do.”
Looking ahead, Arsenal faces a tough challenge in their upcoming Carabao Cup match against Brighton, followed by a Premier League game against Burnley. Timber stressed the need for the team to stay focused, saying, “The next game is already in three days, which is a cup game, and the next Premier League game is going to be tough as well. So, let's keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard.”
💬 “If it’s multiple games in a row, I think it says something about consistency.”

Arsenal's impressive seventh consecutive victory in all competitions has cemented their position at the top of the Premier League table, stretching their lead to six points over City and seven points over reigning champions Liverpool. This latest win follows their dominant 4-0 thrashing of Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, marking their third successive victory in the competition.
The victory over Crystal Palace has sparked hopes among Arsenal fans that their team might finally bring an end to their long wait for the Premier League title, which has been elusive since the 2003/04 season. With their current form and momentum, the Gunners are certainly giving themselves a strong chance of lifting the trophy.
But Arsenal defender Timber said: “It is good to stay neutral, and not to get too high.
“Obviously, we've been doing well, but it's still early in the season, and we just have to keep getting better game by game.”
The 24-year-old Netherlands international added: “The next game is already in three days, which is a (League) Cup match (against Brighton), and the next Premier League game (against Burnley) is going to be tough as well.
“So, let's keep our feet on the ground and keep working hard, and then from there, we'll see what happens.”
Arsenal's strong start to the season is largely due to their solid defense, which has conceded only three goals in 13 games across all competitions. They've kept five consecutive clean sheets, including their recent 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, showcasing their ability to shut down opponents.
“Everyone plays a part in it, but it's a good thing and a good foundation to build on,” said Timber. “From that standard, you just have to keep getting better and be consistent in what we do, and then throughout the whole season, hopefully we'll turn it into something beautiful.
“It gives you confidence, and it shows that we're doing really well, and also, if it's for multiple games in a row, it says something about consistency.
“We just have to keep improving, and look at what we can do better, but also take that feeling with you, that confidence and go into the next game with the same mindset.”
