Hansi Flick's Barcelona aims to regain momentum

Barcelona trails Real Madrid by two points after losses to Sevilla and PSG. Can Hansi Flick's team regroup and reclaim the top spot?

“The first half wasn't good... we had no solutions to play out, it was really not good...”

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is determined to learn from Sunday's 4-1 loss to Sevilla, using it as an opportunity to correct the team's mistakes as they aim to defend their LaLiga title. After consecutive defeats in all competitions, including a 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Flick's team faces a crucial international break.

Flick acknowledged the defeat, but appreciated the team's reaction in the second half, saying, “We also see the negative points in our game, which we have to change.” Barcelona now trails Real Madrid by two points, making their title defense more challenging.

The break will allow Flick's players to recharge and play for their national teams, with the coach expecting a different atmosphere to help them refocus. Upon returning, they'll work hard to regain their top level, with Flick emphasizing the need for players to perform at their best.

Barcelona's next match is scheduled for October 18 against Girona, where they'll aim to bounce back from their losses and stay competitive in the title race.

“Today, I have to accept this defeat, and I'm looking positive, in a way. We also see the negative points in our game, which we have to change,” Flick, whose side are on 19 points from eight games, told reporters.

“The first half wasn't good... we had no solutions to play out, it was really not good. But in the second half, the reaction, I appreciate a lot. What we did, how we played, it was really good to see.

“With this defeat, this emotion... It's important that we keep it, and when we start again after the break, we will fight. We will fight for every title.”

Barcelona's manager Hansi Flick has expressed relief that his players will get a much-needed break as they head into the international break, with the team set to return to action on October 18th against Girona. This comes after a tough run for Barcelona, who suffered a 4-1 loss to Sevilla and a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. Flick's team now trails Real Madrid by two points in the LaLiga standings.

“At the moment, it's good we have a break, also for the players to play for the national teams. I think it's a different atmosphere there, maybe,” the coach said.

“When they are back... then we try and work hard to (get back) on our level, what we normally want to play. This is the most important thing, but also, again, we need some players on their top level.”
