Everton's star defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been dealt a significant blow, requiring surgery on Tuesday due to complications from a hamstring injury. This latest setback means Branthwaite will be out for an extended period, adding to Everton's defensive woes.

The 23-year-old England international has been sidelined since August, and this latest development will keep him out of action for several months. After undergoing surgery, Branthwaite will begin a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of Everton's medical team, working to regain his fitness and return to the pitch.

This injury blow will be felt by Everton, particularly with Tottenham Hotspur upcoming on Sunday. Branthwaite's absence will put additional pressure on the team's defense, and manager David Moyes will need to find a suitable replacement to fill the gap. Branthwaite's new contract, signed in July, keeps him at Everton until 2030, and the club will be hoping for a speedy recovery.

“Following specialist consultation, it has been determined the defender will undergo a surgical procedure tomorrow to address the issue,” Everton said in a statement on Monday.

“Branthwaite will commence a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club's medical team following the operation.”

Everton will host Tottenham Hotspur at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, October 26, 2025, with kickoff scheduled for 16:30 UTC. This match is part of the Premier League. Currently, Everton's recent form hasn't been ideal, but they'll be looking to capitalize on their home ground against a strong Tottenham side.
