Davis Cup Finals: Sinner Withdraws, Top Stars Confirmed
The Davis Cup Finals are set to feature a star-studded lineup, with Carlos Alcaraz leading Spain and Alexander Zverev making his debut for Germany. Jannik Sinner has opted out.
“Jannik Sinner has not given his availability for 2025...”
Jannik Sinner will not participate in the upcoming Davis Cup Finals, according to Italy's team announcement on Monday. The world number two's absence means he'll miss out on the Final 8 stage, which will take place in Bologna from November 18-23.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner recently faced off in the Six Kings Slam final, with Sinner dominating the match to claim his second consecutive title. He defeated Alcaraz in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, winning a whopping $6 million prize.
In contrast, world number one Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed his participation in the Davis Cup Finals, representing Spain in the upcoming tournament.
Italy, the reigning champions, will look to defend their title without Sinner's expertise. Meanwhile, Spain, led by Alcaraz, will aim to make a strong impression in the competition.
“Jannik Sinner has not given his availability for 2025,” Italian captain Filippo Volandri said.
“The Davis Cup is, and will remain, always his home and I am sure that Jannik will soon be part of the team again. In the meantime, I can count on a group ready to fight and give everything for the blue jersey.”
Italy will be well-represented at the Davis Cup, with Filippo Volandri's team featuring some of the country's top players. The team includes Matteo Berrettini, Simone Bolelli, Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Musetti, and Andrea Vavassori, all of whom will aim to bring glory to Italy in the prestigious tournament.

Jannik Sinner, the current ATP Finals champion, is set to defend his title in Turin after a stellar year that saw him win the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Sinner will join Carlos Alcaraz, who has also secured his spot in the season-ending event, in the battle for ATP Finals supremacy.
Spain's quest for Davis Cup glory begins with Carlos Alcaraz leading the charge. With Jaume Munar, Pedro Martinez, and Marcel Granollers by his side, Alcaraz aims to bring the title back to Spain for the first time since 2019.
Germany's Alexander Zverev is set to make a highly anticipated return to the Davis Cup Finals. The world number three has been named to the German team and will make his debut in the tournament's final stage.
