The 29-year-old midfielder's absence will be felt, especially against Villarreal, a club where he began his senior career. Rodri has been a vital part of Guardiola's midfield, providing balance, control, and defensive stability. He also missed City's 2-0 victory over Everton over the weekend and will continue his rehabilitation.
Guardiola stated that Rodri's return timeline is uncertain, saying, “It's not long, but it's muscular and you have to be careful.” The manager plans to rotate his squad and rely on depth in midfield to navigate the team's packed fixture list. City currently sits second in the Premier League table, trailing leaders Arsenal by three points.
“I don't think so for Villarreal or Aston Villa,” Guardiola told British media. “It's not long, but it's muscular and you have to be careful.
“We've tried so many times, we've tried to not take a risk, but we have not been able to (manage) that. So we will see.”
Manchester City is set to face Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday, followed by a Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday. Currently, City sits second in the league standings with 16 points from eight matches.

The Citizens are looking to bounce back and secure crucial points in the Champions League, especially after a win would see them rise to the top of Group A. Pep Guardiola's side will be without Rodri, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
