Nigerian striker Victor Boniface joins Werder Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen, boosting the team's attacking options.

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has completed a season-long loan move to Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen. The 24-year-old forward is expected to significantly boost Bremen's attacking options, following a challenging start to the season.


Bremen coach Horst Steffen expressed confidence in Boniface's abilities, stating, “I'm certain he can be a very important factor for us this season.” Steffen highlighted Boniface's physical strength, finishing skills, and pace as valuable assets for the team.


Boniface had a standout season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 goals and providing 9 assists to help the team secure their first-ever Bundesliga title. He has also had notable stints with Union St.Gilloise in Belgium and Bodø/Glimt in Norway. Werder Bremen will cover part of his salary as part of the loan agreement, which runs until June 2026.


The loan deal is expected to provide a much-needed boost to Bremen's attack, as they've yet to record a win in three games across all competitions this term. Boniface's impressive stats and abilities make him an exciting addition to the team.


Boniface was also close to joining AC Milan in August, having reportedly reached an agreement with Leverkusen. However, the transfer fell through after he failed a medical examination, paving the way for his eventual move to Leverkusen.
