The highly anticipated Le Classique match between Olympique Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain has been postponed to Monday due to adverse weather conditions. Forecasts indicated heavy rainfall and storms in southern France, prompting regional authorities to issue an “orange alert” for storm and rain-flooding in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, where Marseille is located.
According to Georges-Francois Leclerc, prefect of the Bouches-du-Rhone department, the match was postponed due to potential risks associated with heavy rainfall and urban runoff around the 65,000-capacity Stade Velodrome. The expected rainfall could reach 70 to 90 mm in some areas and up to 120 mm in a few hours, posing a significant risk to both spectators and players.
