Manchester City is on the verge of signing Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on Deadline Day, with a reported €35m deal agreed upon. The 26-year-old Italian international has been deemed surplus to requirements at PSG despite his instrumental role in the team's Champions League win last season.

Donnarumma's potential arrival at Manchester City would see him compete with Ederson for the starting goalkeeper spot. With his impressive skills and experience, Donnarumma would undoubtedly strengthen City's squad and provide Pep Guardiola with a high-quality alternative.

PSG recently signed 23-year-old Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, with coach Luis Enrique confirming he'll be the team's first-choice goalkeeper this season. However, reports from the PA news agency suggest Gianluigi Donnarumma has agreed to join Manchester City, potentially altering the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City signed James Trafford from Burnley in a £31.2 million deal, and the 22-year-old goalkeeper has started each of their three Premier League matches so far. However, his performances haven't quite convinced, particularly in City's 2-0 loss to Tottenham, where a poor pass from Trafford directly led to Spurs' second goal.

Trafford's struggles with his feet were evident, and his teammates sometimes didn't help him in possession, leading to a lack of trust. Despite this, Trafford is considered to have the mental strength to bounce back from his rough display.

With Gianluigi Donnarumma joining Manchester City, Trafford might face stiff competition for the number one goalkeeper spot. If Donnarumma signs, he'll likely bring his expertise as one of the world's top goalkeepers, pushing Trafford to learn and grow quickly.

Key Stats:

  • Matches: 3 appearances for Manchester City this season
  • Goals Conceded: 4 goals in 3 matches
  • Clean Sheets: 1 clean sheet
  • Transfer Value: £14.92 million
  • Height: 192 cm
  • Weight: 82 kg
  • Preferred Foot: Right foot

It's worth noting that Trafford's performance against Tottenham resembled that of a young goalkeeper, which isn't surprising given his age and experience. He'll need to learn from his mistakes and adapt quickly to stay ahead in the competition.
