“Lucas is one of the leading goalkeepers in France and Europe and a fantastic addition to our team...”

Paris Saint-Germain has officially confirmed the signing of French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a contract that runs until 2030. The 23-year-old shot-stopper is expected to succeed Gianluigi Donnarumma as the team's first-choice goalkeeper, given Donnarumma's contract situation with a year left to negotiate a potential extension.

Chevalier's transfer comes with a hefty price tag of approximately 40 million euros, plus potential bonuses, as PSG looks to strengthen their squad under coach Luis Enrique. The young goalkeeper, known for his exceptional skills and previously named Ligue 1's goalkeeper of the year, expressed his excitement about joining the European champions, stating he's “really delighted to be here” and aims to wear PSG's jersey “with passion and ambition.”

With this signing, PSG is preparing for the future, especially considering Donnarumma's uncertain status beyond this season. Chevalier's arrival positions him as a key player in PSG's lineup, potentially competing in upcoming matches, including the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur on August 13, 2025, and Ligue 1 fixtures against FC Nantes and Angers SCO.

“I am a kid that is living his dream. Ever since I was small I wanted to play at the very highest level,” Chevalier said in a statement.

“I'm really delighted to be here. I will wear this shirt with passion and ambition.”

Lucas Chevalier, born in Calais, France, honed his skills at Lille's renowned youth academy before embarking on a loan spell at Valenciennes. This experience paved the way for his emergence as Lille's first-choice goalkeeper during the 2022-23 season. Chevalier's impressive performances between the posts earned him widespread recognition.

Chevalier's outstanding form didn't go unnoticed, as he was crowned Ligue 1's Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2024-25 season by the UNFP, the French players' union. This accolade is a testament to his exceptional skills and consistency. Now, as a key signing for Paris Saint-Germain, Chevalier is set to join the team on a contract until 2030, potentially playing alongside star-studded lineups in upcoming matches like the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.

“Lucas is one of the leading goalkeepers in France and Europe and a fantastic addition to our team - as we continue to build everything for the long-term based on the collective,” said PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
