Germany's national team director, Rudi Voller, has confirmed that Arsenal forward Kai Havertz will miss the World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Northern Ireland in September due to injury. Havertz has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury during Arsenal's 1-0 Premier League win at Manchester United earlier this month.
Havertz's absence will be significant for both Arsenal and Germany, given his importance as a versatile attacker capable of playing in various positions. Arsenal recently signed forward Eberechi Eze to bolster their attack in the absence of Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, who is recovering from an ACL injury.
“He certainly won't make it, he has a knee injury. We don't know exactly how it will go in the coming weeks, whether surgery is upcoming or it will be treated conservatively,” Voller told German media at an event on Monday.

Havertz picked up the injury during Arsenal's 1-0 Premier League win at Manchester United on Sunday 17th August, 2025.
Injury Update:
- Nature of Injury: Knee injury, with uncertainty surrounding the treatment plan, potentially including surgery
- Recovery Time: Unclear, with Voller stating that Havertz “certainly won't make it” for the upcoming qualifiers
- Previous Injury: Havertz was also sidelined for over three months after suffering a hamstring injury in February
Havertz's absence will be a significant blow to Germany's World Cup qualifying campaign. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has mentioned that more time and tests are needed to determine the extent of Havertz's injury.
