Fulham Manager Marco Silva on Transfer Frustrations
With the transfer deadline looming, Marco Silva hopes to bolster Fulham's squad. Read more about their transfer plans and upcoming fixtures.
Fulham manager Marco Silva expressed his disappointment with the club's transfer activity, stating they've been too passive. With the Premier League opener nearing, Silva wishes his team had been more proactive in strengthening their squad. He mentioned that while it's not the ideal scenario, they have to adapt to the market's dynamics.
Reiss Nelson, who played for Fulham last season on loan from Arsenal, has been rumored to potentially join the club permanently. However, Silva's concerns about the team's transfer approach might impact such plans. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Muniz has reportedly caught the attention of Atalanta, and a potential sale could influence Fulham's transfer strategy moving forward.
Silva's comments highlight the challenges Fulham faces in the transfer market. Despite showing promise last season, the team struggled in the second half, finishing in the bottom half of the table. With European qualification seemingly out of reach, Silva aims to bolster his squad, but the club's limited spending might hinder their ambitions.

Marco previews our season opener.
Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, has been linked with a permanent move to Craven Cottage. Meanwhile, Fulham's Brazilian forward Rodrigo Muniz has reportedly attracted interest from Atalanta. “It's not an ideal scenario. You used the word 'quiet' — I have to say we've been too passive. If you asked me if I expected it, I'd say of course not. But it is what it is, it's the market,” said Marco Silva, Fulham's manager.
“It's important we didn't get injuries during pre-season because, in some positions, we are very short on numbers. We want to at least have a squad and players on the bench to play a Premier League game and meet the demands the league asks of you.
“It's unexpected, even if it's normal for Fulham to sign players late. I don't go in that direction - I know what we want, and the plan was there.”
Rodrigo Muniz will be part of Fulham's lineup against Brighton, despite speculation surrounding his future. “It is not for me to comment on any type of offers, but he is going to be in contention for the Brighton game. Rodrigo knows what I think about him and how important he is,” said Marco Silva, highlighting Muniz's crucial role in the team. Muniz has been instrumental for Fulham, scoring 26 goals in 97 appearances since joining the club in 2021.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is optimistic about strengthening his squad before the transfer window closes on September 1. “Let's hope we can do something before the end of the month, because right now it doesn't make sense for us to look toward the Brighton game or even the Man Utd game, as we've left it very late to reinforce the positions we need,” Silva said, highlighting the team's current limitations.
Fulham faces Brighton in their Premier League opener this Saturday, followed by a match against Manchester United on August 24. Silva's comments reflect his concerns about the team's readiness for the upcoming fixtures, given the lack of significant signings so far, with only goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte joining the club.

Silva's frustration stems from the club's passive approach in the transfer market, which has resulted in only one major signing. He emphasizes the need for reinforcements to strengthen the squad, particularly in attack, where Rodrigo Muniz's potential departure could leave a significant gap.
