Welcome, Thomas! 🤍
The 51-year-old replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked last Friday despite winning the Europa League and securing Tottenham's place in the Champions League. Frank will be joined by his former Brentford staff members, including assistant coaches Justin Cochrane and Chris Haslam, analyst Joe Newton, and Andreas Georgson from Manchester United.
Tottenham's director of football, Johan Lange, had previously worked with Frank at Lyngby, and their reunion is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the team. Frank's appointment comes as no surprise, given his proven track record in player development and squad management. With Spurs set to compete in the Champions League next season, Frank's experience and tactical acumen will be put to the test.

Tottenham paid approximately £10 million to secure Thomas Frank's release from his Brentford contract, which had two years remaining. This significant investment reflects the club's commitment to Frank's vision and leadership.
Thomas Frank's appointment as Tottenham's head coach was briefly delayed due to disagreements over his backroom staff, particularly the inclusion of assistant coach Justin Cochrane. Brentford had wanted to retain Cochrane, but he will instead join Frank at Tottenham.
Cochrane previously worked as a youth coach at Spurs and will now reunite with Frank, bringing his expertise to the first team.
Thomas Frank has been appointed as Tottenham's new head coach, signing a contract until 2028. He brings along key staff members, including Chris Haslam (head of athletic performance) and Joe Newton (analyst), who have left Brentford to join him.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas Frank as our new Head Coach on a contract that runs until 2028,” a statement on the Tottenham website read.
“Thomas has extensive experience in English football having joined Brentford in 2016 - since becoming one of the longest-serving current managers in the Premier League.
“During his time at Brentford, he transformed the Club, moving them up from the Championship to an established Premier League side, consistently and significantly outperforming expectations for an extended period of time.
“In Thomas, we are appointing one of the most progressive and innovative head coaches within the game. He has a proven track record in player and squad development, and we look forward to him leading the team as we prepare for the season ahead.”
Thomas Frank took charge of Brentford in October 2018 and led the team to Premier League promotion via the Championship playoffs in 2021. He successfully stabilized the club in the top flight over four seasons, achieving notable success despite a limited budget.
Under Frank, Brentford consistently outperformed expectations, finishing 10th in the most recent season. He now takes the reins at Tottenham, which finished 17th, presenting a new challenge for the Danish manager.
Tottenham's disappointing domestic season led chairman Daniel Levy to sack Ange Postecoglou, despite the Australian manager's recent success in the Europa League. Postecoglou had brought Spurs their first trophy in nine years with a Carabao Cup win over Manchester City was not mentioned however manchester United was mentioned with a win in the Bilbao final.
Postecoglou's exit came just 16 days after the trophy win, highlighting the club's prioritization of Premier League performance.
Tribute to Thomas Frank
Brentford director of football Phil Giles praised Frank, saying, ”From the moment he (Frank) replaced Dean Smith, he understood what we were trying to build and his wisdom, coaching ability, and emotional intelligence have helped transform the club.”
“But it's not just what you see on the pitch. He forged a special connection with our fans, helped develop and improve players, and was instrumental in implementing the culture that has seen Brentford go from strength to strength.”
We can confirm that after seven years in charge, Thomas Frank has left Brentford to take up the head coach role at Tottenham Hotspur.
