Alcaraz Battles Through, Fearnley Reaches First ATP Quarter-final
Carlos Alcaraz and Jacob Fearnley secure thrilling wins at the Queen's Club Championships. Read more about their journey.
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz fought hard to beat Jaume Munar 6-4, 6-7(7), 7-5 and reach the quarterfinals of the Queen's Club Championships.
The thrilling match was a test for Alcaraz, who recently won a dramatic French Open final against Jannik Sinner. Although it didn't quite match that epic encounter, the London crowd enjoyed an intense battle between the two Spanish players.
The world No. 2 faced a setback in the deciding set but demonstrated his resilience, extending his winning streak to 15 matches - a career-best.

The match was intense from the start, with both players trading early breaks and neither holding serve in the first four games. Alcaraz gained the upper hand when Munar double-faulted, allowing him to take a 5-4 lead. However, Alcaraz's momentum was momentarily halted when he hit a double fault of his own on match point, and Munar capitalized to force a deciding set.

“I'm very happy to be in my first quarter-final, it's even better to do it here in the UK,” Fearnley said. “I tried to stick to my game plan and be aggressive. I did that better in the third set and the result speaks for itself.”
Jacob Fearnley took an early lead, racing to a 3-0 advantage before Corentin Moutet broke back. However, Fearnley quickly regained control, breaking Moutet again to take the first set 6-3. Moutet fought back strongly in the second set, taking a 3-0 lead and eventually winning 6-2 to force a decider.
Fearnley dominated the final set, breaking twice before closing out the match with a hold to love. The 23-year-old will now face Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals, who defeated Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-2.
