Casper Ruud advanced to the Madrid Open semifinals with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Daniil Medvedev. The Norwegian's victory marked his first win against the Russian in four meetings.

Ruud's clay-court prowess was on display, as he capitalized on limited break opportunities to secure the win. Medvedev, known to struggle on clay, failed to convert any of his break points, ultimately falling short. Ruud joins Lorenzo Musetti and Jack Draper, who also progressed to the semifinals.

Casper Ruud applied intense pressure on Daniil Medvedev's serve in the first set, breaking in the fourth game and cruising to a 6-3 win. The second set was tighter, with Ruud converting his only break point in the 11th game to take control.

Medvedev struggled, committing 33 unforced errors and four double faults. Ruud's victory sets up a semifinal clash with Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated Jakub Mensik 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

Fifth seed Jack Draper dominated Matteo Arnaldi, winning 6-0, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals. This victory propelled Draper into the top five in the world rankings for the first time.

Draper's form has been impressive this season, and a second Masters 1000 title would cement his status as a top contender. However, he'll face a tough test against Lorenzo Musetti, who defeated Lucky Loser Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-3. Musetti's clay-court expertise makes him a formidable opponent.
