Norris Aims to Regain Form Amid Piastri's Winning Streak

Lando Norris isn't concerned about Oscar Piastri's recent winning streak, believing there's still time to turn things around in the F1 championship.

Lando Norris doesn't seem fazed by Oscar Piastri's recent surge in form. Piastri has won three of the last four races, including back-to-back victories in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and is chasing a third consecutive win in Miami. This impressive run has seen Piastri take the lead in the championship standings, 10 points clear of Norris.

When asked if he's worried about Piastri's momentum, Norris replied, “No worry at all. He's doing a good job and he deserves it. Nothing more than that.” Norris recognizes Piastri's strong performances but believes he can still turn the tide in his favor. With two races already won this season, Norris knows he needs to step up his game to challenge Piastri for the championship.

Lando Norris isn't buying into the idea of momentum being a major factor in Oscar Piastri's recent successes. “I don't believe so much in the momentum stuff,” Norris said. He believes there's still plenty of time to turn things around, noting it's only round six out of 24.

Norris acknowledged he needs to step up his performance, saying, “No reason to be worried. It's round six of 24. I'm not going to say that forever, I know I need to get a move on and I need to get into gear a little bit. I'm doing the best I can every week and every minute.” Despite trailing Piastri in the standings, Norris remains confident, especially given his win in Miami last year. “We feel good, we feel confident we're the best, but the others are certainly not far behind and are constantly putting pressure on us,” he added.

Lando Norris acknowledged that small mistakes can make a big difference in the championship battle. “So one little mistake and we're behind and we're not where we want to be. Otherwise, it's just another weekend.” Norris understands the fine margins in F1 and the importance of consistency.

Norris also hinted that the 2025 McLaren might suit Oscar Piastri's driving style better. He believes it will take time to resolve the issues he's facing and is focused on improving. “He's [Piastri's] done a better job or the car's maybe more to his liking, I don't know,” Norris said, adding that he just needs to keep working and stay patient.

“It was nice to get away from things and have a bit of a reset,” he said of the break after Jeddah. “But it was productive.

“That doesn't mean a lot of stuff has changed for this weekend. It's not like things are going to magically work as I would love,” he added.

“But I think there's been a lot more understanding over the last couple of weeks of certain things, certain feelings, what could have affected things, what maybe didn't.”
