Rayan Cherki Earns First France Call-Up for Nations League Semi-Final

France's Nations League squad, including Rayan Cherki's first call-up and injuries to key players William Saliba and Jules Kounde. Will Les Bleus overcome fatigue and secure a win against Spain?

Rayan Cherki has received his first France call-up, being named in the squad for the Nations League semi-final against Spain. The selection comes as head coach Didier Deschamps finalizes his team for the crucial match on June 5 in Stuttgart, Germany.

However, France will face challenges without key players William Saliba, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Jules Kounde, who has a thigh injury. Despite these absences, Cherki's inclusion brings excitement as he looks to make his mark on the international stage.

Rayan Cherki, 21, has earned his first France call-up for the Nations League semi-final against Spain. He'll look to make a strong impression as Les Bleus prepare for the high-stakes match on June 5 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Cherki's form in Ligue 1 this season has been impressive, playing a key role in Lyon's attack. After struggling to reach his full potential earlier in his career, he's now showcased his talent, making him a valuable addition to France's squad.

France's squad for the Nations League semi-final will be impacted by the Champions League final, with several key players - including Marcus Thuram, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Warren Zaire-Emery, Benjamin Pavard, and Lucas Hernandez - potentially fatigued after the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan on May 31.

However, France coach Didier Deschamps is confident in his team's motivation, saying, “I don't need to motivate them. Spain are certainly the best European team, if not the best in the world, with players who are extremely high-performing.” Deschamps' words highlight the respect France has for their upcoming opponents.

“Barca aren’t in the Champions League final, so they'll probably be fresher. Of course, there's Lamine Yamal, who does extraordinary things. But he's not the only one we need to keep an eye on. We know very well that we’re up against one of the best teams, if not the very best, at the international level.”
