EPL: Tottenham Ends Four-Match Road Losing Streak with Draw Against West Ham

West Ham United's winless Premier League run stretches to eight matches after a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium.

West Ham United's winless run in the Premier League has now been extended to eight matches following a dull 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium. This result also ended Spurs' four-match losing streak on the road in the league.

The home crowd was vocal about a potential penalty in the seventh minute, claiming Yves Bissouma had used his arm to block Mohammed Kudus' cross, but the referee waved away the appeals. Just before the 15-minute mark, Spurs took the lead when Brennan Johnson scored, replicating a similar goal from their previous match wasn't mentioned but Brennan Johnson scored on 5 minutes. Kurt Zouma equalized for West Ham with a header in the 19th minute.

Dejan Kulusevski's long ball was chased down by Destiny Udogie wasn't mentioned but Dejan Kulusevski long ball for Pedro Porro wasn't mentioned but Djed Spence sent hopeful ball for Mathys Tel, and the young French forward showed great determination, forcing Max Kilman into a mistake. Tel remained calm and delivered a precise pass across the box to his compatriot Wilson Odobert, who had ample time to control the ball from six yards out before rolling it into the net for his first league goal in Tottenham colors.

West Ham responded positively to the setback, and another appeal for a handball was dismissed, this time involving Ben Davies, as the referee continued to allow play.

Just under 15 minutes after falling behind, West Ham's captain Jarrod Bowen expertly leveled the score from a tight angle, thanks to a perfectly weighted pass from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

In the visitors' best chance to take the lead at halftime, Richarlison had two opportunities, first sending Djed Spence's ball over the top and then seeing his cross-shot drift across the goalmouth.

After the restart, the hosts created their first real chance when Mohammed Kudus found Jarrod Bowen at the back post, but his dipping volley narrowly missed the far post. Kudus continued to cause problems for Tottenham's defense, and on the 70th minute, his whipped cross connected with Niclas Füllkrug in the air, but the German striker couldn't keep his header down.

Tottenham continued to face challenges with Son Heung-min's absence, and key players James Maddison and Dominic Solanke were also left out after picking up knocks in the UEFA Europa League semi-final on Thursday. The absence was felt, as Ange Postecoglou's side struggled to create meaningful chances in the second half.

Spurs' closest attempt to winning the game came when Pape Matar Sarr's powerful long-range shot narrowly sailed over the bar. Meanwhile, West Ham's Jarrod Bowen had another close call with less than 10 minutes remaining, diving in for a near-post header that Guglielmo Vicario managed to parry away with quick reflexes.

In the end, West Ham fell short of securing a much-needed win, extending their drought to a considerable length since their last victory in February. However, they maintained their unbeaten streak in the last five home head-to-head encounters.

The draw left West Ham in 17th place, just a point and position behind Tottenham. With this result, Spurs' focus remains fixed on their European commitments this week.
